像一滴酱油  
不多

不等更长的光

趁热  
这一瞬  
已经够远

The shop is lit before the sky. Batter is poured, and the morning rolls up.

### Rice Rolls

The lamp is earlier than the day.  
The batter spreads.  
A neighbour’s day  
begins in this one roll.

The old folk of Guangdong do not lecture.  
A cup, two small things,  
and the day is steamed  
until sitting down  
is simply what one does.

The scent arrives first.  
A person is already seated,  
quicker than thought.

Someone asks if you have eaten.  
It is only a drop of soy—  
not much,  
just enough  
for kindness to begin.

Do not wait for a longer light.  
Pass this plate across  
while it is hot.  
This instant  
is already far enough.
