顺德，云鹭小镇，从高处看下去；天再冷，也有人在打地基，买下的，租来的，高高矮矮各自站稳，影子慢慢分出了长短。

## 地基

从高处看下去，  
一台小小的挖掘机，  
在空地上挖着。

天有点冷，  
新厂房还是  
一栋一栋站起来。

有人把脚下的地  
买下来，攥在手心；  
有人先借一段时光，  
看一看再说。

高的，矮的，  
都不说话，  
各自守着各自的门。

雾慢慢散开，  
高的矮的，  
影子有长有短，  
晒的是同一个太阳。

Yunlu Town, Shunde, seen from above. However cold the season, someone is still laying foundations; bought or rented, tall or low, each finds its footing, and slowly their shadows fall long or short.

### Groundwork

From up high,  
a little digger  
is scooping at an empty lot.

The air has turned a little cold,  
yet new factories  
keep standing up, one by one.

Some buy the ground beneath their feet  
and hold it tight in their hands;  
some borrow a stretch of time  
and wait to see.

Tall ones, low ones,  
saying nothing,  
each keeping its own door.

The haze lifts slowly.  
Tall and low,  
their shadows long and short,  
they share the same sun.
